Leader Open Meeting, Melton Mowbray Sailing Club, Saturday 30th June 2007

Visitors from Nottingham, Milton Keynes, Welwyn Garden City and Deben Yacht Club joined the regular MMSC Leader sailors for this annual event, which took place under leaden skies, and on a lake expanded by floodwater. In light to moderate winds, Mike and Val Sherwen (Deben Yacht Club) led the first race from the start. The afternoon races were more closely contested with Roger and Sybil Morse (Welwyn Garden City) snatching a win in the second race. The final race saw Jane and Chris Wharmby (Milton Keynes) consolidate some good results from earlier in the day to come through to pip Mike and Val and win the Series. Melton's own Pete Driver and Annette Cave sailed consistently to take fourth position overall.
